Sand Conditioner #2, also known as SC2, assists in mold production in green sand foundries. It aids in pulling pockets, increasing tensile strengths, and improving finish. SC2 is used at a one percent addition rate. As a result, a foundry can lower compactability and increase mold quantity. SC2 is a very fine soluble starch used in green sand systems.
