Trim Presses and Auto-Grinders
Automation is the future of the metal casting industry, and Carpenter Brothers, Inc. can take you there with our trim presses and auto-grinders . So give us a call to discuss your project.
Castings need to be cleaned and finished after pouring. Specifically, the gates, runners, sprues, and flash must be removed. A very efficient way to do this is to use a trim press. First, a trim press cuts the non-casting metal away from the casting. Next, the as-cast casting is placed in a specific fixture for that casting and inserted into the trim press envelope. The trim press then is engaged, and the press cuts the flash and gating system from the final part. This can be done in one motion or may take more than one depending on the casting.
Another way to remove the excess metal from an as-cast part is to place it into an automatic grinder. These grinders either move the tool to the casting or move the casting to the tool. In addition, they can utilize standard grinding wheels, diamond wheels, bits, burrs, or any or all of the tools mentioned above to clean the casting.

About Us
Carpenter Brothers, Inc. is the leading supplier of equipment, consumables, and technical expertise for the metal casting industry. Founded in 1917, by Everett and Milton Carpenter, the brothers were able to use their unique foundry experiences to solve the problem of the day: a reliable sand source. They got their foot in the door by selling natural bonded molding sand, which was mined by hand, loaded into horse-drawn carts, and then delivered to customers. Not only did they sell the sand, but their technical expertise was readily available for all customers, big or small, to help manufacture the best castings. After surviving The Great Depression, Carpenter Brothers, Inc. slowly increased the number of products it distributed and expanded its sales territory into what it is today.
