Calcined zircon sand is processed to reduce water and other volatile content in the sand leaving a pure product. Zircon sand is used in molding and core making because of its unique properties. Zircon is not easily wetted by molten metal and has a very low thermal expansion rate. This allows for excellent casting surfaces, reduced metal penetration, and burn-in/on, saving you time in the cleaning room.
