SAE Carbon Steel Shot
SAE Steel Shot is manufactured to meet SAE Specifications. The various sizes, hardness, Chemistry, and percentage of non-rounds are measured to meet these specs. The shot is created by pouring the molten steel into the stream of water, which explodes the steel into small balls. Once cooled, these balls are separated from the non-rounds. The non-rounds, being very hard and brittle, are crushed into grit. Next, the rounds are separated by size and tempered in a furnace to yield the desired hardness.
